Mind the Brain exhibitionThe Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) was set up in 2019 to accelerate biomedical research by closing the links between systems biology and medical research. As one of the interdisciplinary research centres of the University of Luxembourg, it brings together biologists, medical doctors, computer scientists, physicists, engineers and mathematicians. The objective of their collaboration is to offer new insights into complex systems such as cells, organs and organisms.

Mind the Brain

In order to celebrate 10 years of pulling together excellent brains for biomedical research, the centre has set up the “Mind the Brain” exhibition. It features 10 giant sculptures in the shape of a brain. Each sculpture has been painted by a renowned Luxembourgish artist and represents one of the LCSB’s research areas. “We wanted to share our passion for science with many people, and to do it in an unexpected way,” explains Professor Rudi Balling, director of the LCSB.

The LCSB currently has almost 250 collaborators working in 15 research groups. The centre is involved in over 400 collaborative projects. “Luxembourg’s biomedical research is now on the map. Our expertise is internationally recognised in several key areas and we are forging ahead with new exciting scientific endeavours,” comments Professor Balling.
